Overview
DeleteMe uses a hierarchical entity model to represent your organization's structure. Organizations can contain departments, and departments can contain sub-departments, forming a tree that controls access and member organization.
There are three entity types relevant to organizational structure:
Organization: Your company or business unit. The top-level entity that holds billing, SSO configuration, and plan allocations.
Department: A subdivision within an organization. Used to group members by team, function, risk level, or any other criteria. Departments can be nested to any depth (sub-departments within departments)
Individual: A member (employee, executive, family member) whose privacy is being protected. Individuals belong to an organization or department. Individuals (members) can be placed directly under an organization or under any department.
Use Cases
Access partitioning: Give an administrator access only to a specific department and its members, rather than the entire organization
Member organization: Categorize employees by team, office location, risk level, or business unit
Reporting clarity: View onboarding progress and privacy reports scoped to a department
Creating Departments
1. Log in to your DeleteMe dashboard
2. Navigate to the Members section in the sidebar
3. Click on the hierarchical view tool
4. Click on the ‘More’ action
5. Enter a name for the department
6. Confirm creation
Departments can also be nested when creating a new department; selecting an existing department as the parent creates a sub-department.
Moving Members Between Departments
Members can be moved between departments individually or in bulk:
1. Select one or more members
2. Use the Actions button and select ‘Move to Department’
3. Select the Department you would like the member(s) to be moved to.
Moving a member updates their position in the hierarchy immediately. Their plan, add-ons, and identity data are unaffected.
